Free tools for smart-telescope owners. They run in your browser unless a card says otherwise.
What you can use now
-
Plan a night
Sky planner
What can I see this week? Exoplanet transits, variable stars, comets, asteroids and deep-sky picks, ranked for your smart telescope and your sky, with a calendar of rare events you can subscribe to. Works on a phone.
-
Before you share
Clean my files
Your FITS files (the format telescopes save frames in) record where you observed, often to a few meters. This moves that site by up to 5 km and rounds the height to 100 m, and every image byte stays as it was. Nothing is uploaded.
-
Calibrate
Calibration guide
Do Seestar owners need bias, dark and flat frames? What a Seestar already does to every frame it saves, and a step-by-step guide to shooting a full set as a checkup of your sensor.

Try the engine · Alpha
Engine (Alpha)
Try SkyCruncher on a frame with nothing to install: the 2026 old engine's browser app. The frame never leaves your computer, and it asks before it downloads star catalogs. It's an alpha, a stopgap until the app ships.
What each one needs
All four have shipped implemented. Each privacy link goes to the one page that says what a tool sends and keeps.
| Tool | What it needs | Privacy |
|---|---|---|
| Sky planner | Any browser, phone included. Nothing to install. | Planner privacy |
| Clean my files | Works best on a computer: Chrome or Edge can save the cleaned copies into a folder, and other browsers download them one by one. It cleans FITS files only; phone photos and raw camera files keep their GPS, which sits in EXIF data instead of a FITS header. | Clean privacy |
| Calibration guide | Reading it needs only a browser. Shooting the full set needs a Windows computer with N.I.N.A. (a free imaging program), the Seestar on the same network over Alpaca (the standard network interface desktop astronomy programs use), and a tablet or phone showing the flat-light screen. A SkyCruncher helper app that shoots the set for you is planned. | The guide sends nothing |
| Engine (Alpha) | A browser. Star catalogs download only after it asks. | Engine (Alpha) privacy |
Share data
Send a night of subs (the single exposures your telescope saves) to SkyCruncher. Upload moves your observing site on your computer before anything is sent.
The SkyCruncher app is in development. About the app · Privacy
